Nelson Ortega Toscano
He was born on March 11, 1963 in Tibú Norte de Santander, Colombia, on the border with Venezuela in the jungle region of Colombian Catatumbo where the Motilón Barí indigenous tribe originates from; There he was born and carried out his primary studies until the age of 10.
His tendency to MAGICAL REALISM, with which he has become known, shows us a lot of strength in color and a wide range in his palette of vibrant and warm tones as well as the region where he is from, Tibú. He haughtily paints the color of the jungle, which is his favorite subject, representing in it the Colombian elements that make up our culture, Andean landscapes and wild scenes of tropical fauna and flora.
In his works the beauty of Colombian and Andean nature is reflected before the whole world; and now reinforcing his color with poetry, a novelty acquired during his stay in Mexico, he delights us with the noises, sounds, vibrations, textures, crusts and sensations of tropical humidity, expressed in his canvases pigmented with love for his homeland and his region.
